A BRIEF HISTORY The origins
of Laurentian Academy go back to 1965. In the beginning, it
was a centre specialising in physical education and outdoor activities,
the first of its kind in Canada. Its name was EDPHY, a diminutive for
physical education (in French) ; later it became EDPHY OUTDOOR CENTER,
to take into account its growth as an international institution welcoming
youth from over 40 countries. Twenty years further on, Laurentian Academy was founded by Mr. Yvan Dubois who has been accorded the highest distinction awarded to citizens of this country, the ORDER OF Canada, for his numerous initiatives as a physical educator and recreationist, in the field of youth, recreation and sports. Today Laurentian Academy is well established and widely known throughout the world of education. In this respect, since 1965, more than a 350,000 young people between the ages of 6 to 17, from all five continents, have frequented our campus. Hundreds of letters of reference have been sent over the years by both parents and children, to show their appreciation. Our Reference Guide contains a sample of references from well-known personalities in Canada (Mr. Bill Warren, president of the Canadian Olympic Association, Mr. Bernard Landry, Ex-Prime Minister of Quebec, etc...) |

Laurentian
Academy is a private school, with a co-ed student population at the Elementary
and Secondary school levels, with facilities for both day students and
boarders. Our philosophy is to create an environment in which young people
can learn to become better citizens of the world ( and possibly its future
leaders). This is to be accomplished by influencing not only their knowledge
of the world, but also their health, culture, language ability, sports,
as well as their understanding and vision of the world as a whole. Thus
the Academys mission : to offer youth from around the world an Educational
Project favouring each students overall development. Since 1965
and with ongoing research and continual development,
allied to a profound, underlying interest in education itself, allows
us to offer a unique educational concept, spread over 3 major programmes
